Making the Fellows Program an Ongoing Process

The old saying goes, “Time flies when you are having fun.” That has been true for the Science Leadership Fellows Program. The past few months has brought great times. In January, the 2016-2018 Cohort participated in their first Fellows weekend. They learned the purpose and history of the program. In addition, they learned the vital skills necessary to promote change in the educational and political community. We look forward to what is ahead in our Fall Fellows Weekend.

As the new Science Leadership Fellows were enjoying their first weekend, the 2014-2016 cohort was enjoying its last year as a cohort. They reflected on the program, and its impact on their professional and personal lives. In April, 11 Fellows successfully completed the program. They were honored as part of the Spring NCSLA Fellows meeting. Many of the Fellows are continuing their leadership within the NCSLA organization.

fellows1The NCSLA Fellowship program has been a successful program that has built lasting relationships in the work and personal lives of the many of the participants. Networking is a key component in many organizations. Even though a great deal of Fellows have kept in touch with each other throughout the last decade, some temporarily lose touch. That is one of the reasons for the NCSLA Fellows Alumni Facebook page.

If you or someone you know is a former Fellow, let them know it is time to reconnect. The NCSLA Fellows Alumni Facebook group  will serve to continually connect Fellows from different cohorts. It will widen your professional networking base and provide information on opportunities that will enhance professional growth. If you are an alumni of the Fellows program, you are invited to continue networking by joining the Facebook group.
