IMG 6725The North Carolina Science Leadership Association Spring Professional Development Institute and Meeting was held on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 in Cary, North Carolina at the Embassy Suites. The theme of the meeting was “Improving Literacy Through Science Leadership: More Strategies to Integrate Science and Literacy. Over 100 science education leaders from across the state attended the meeting and enjoyed networking and celebrating science education in North Carolina as well as participating in an engaging and interactive Professional Development Institute to focus on science and literacy.

Featured speakers were Mr. Ross Donihue, a National Geographic Explorer, who shared strategies for visual storytelling and asking questions with maps and Dr. Christine Royce, noted author and presenter, who talked about “The Rhyme & Reason for Integrating Literature in the Science Classroom” and led a hands-on activity that had everyone up and about doing science.

A Job-Alike session concluded the Spring meeting where members shared ideas to enrich and enhance science education at the school, district, and/or state level. The photos below capture the excitement and high energy level of the meeting.  See more about the program.
