The NCSLA Michael C. Jackson Distinguished Service award goes to a person how has performed great service to science education in North Carolina. This award is supported by Fisher Science Education.

During NCSLA’s 2015 spring meeting, Ann McClung was presented this prestigious award. Ann was described by her nominators as “an excellent role model” and the very personification of “the notion of service to science education.”

Ann has demonstrated many years of dedication to science education working as a science teacher at the middle school, high school, and college levels. She has over 20 years of experience providing professional development to colleagues via presentations, workshops, and week-long Science Institutes for Teacher excellence. She has sponsored Science Olympiad teams for many years, and continuously obtains funds for her students to train for robotics contests.

Ann has served as Director on the NCSLA board and recently was elected President-Elect. She has also served in the positions of District Director, Secretary, and President of NCSTA and received that association's highest award, the Vi Hunsucker Award.
