Questions about the Next Generation of Science Standards, NGSS, abound with science educators in North Carolina and the nation. As we wait and wonder how the new national standards will change our science teaching practices, our national experts tell us that the answers lie in the already available Framework for K-12 Science Education because it is guiding the development of the NGSS.

The NCSLA Fall Meeting on November 7, 2012 will answer why this strong attention is on the Framework document. You will learn about the new, well-researched vision for science education provided by this document. You will dialogue with colleagues about the conceptual ideas set forth in this document and you will consider appropriate assessment practices for these concepts.
