Dr. Elaine Franklin is the 2017 NCSLA recipient of the Herman and Emma Gatling Award for Outstanding Science Education Leadership in North Carolina. She is the director of the Kenan Fellows Program for Curriculum and Leadership Development, affiliated with the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science at North Carolina State University. Elaine is an innovative teacher, researcher, and educational leader dedicated to developing and empowering effective teachers from across the United States in all disciplines and grade levels.
The NCSLA Herman and Emma Gatling Award for Outstanding Science Education Leadership in North Carolina goes to the person who has exemplified the high standards the late Herman Gatling of Durham County set in his job and in his life. This award recognizes the recipient for her/his many contributions as an outstanding science education leader in the state of North Carolina.
