Happy New Year 2018!

I hope that you are all set to start the year refreshed and ready to continue your good work toward promoting science/STEM Education throughout North Carolina.  I have been fortunate to work with the Lisa Rhoades, SMT Center, NCSLA member and sponsor, on an Army Education Outreach Program to promote high school science/engineering research in eastern NC.  We have had such a rich experience getting to know 60+ students and their teachers.  We are excited about the student enthusiasm for their research projects, many of which address community needs or ways to improve technology in medicine, water quality, and sports. It is so important to keep in mind the primary goal of our collective work: students making progress toward becoming educated citizens and life-long learners.

We have many exciting opportunities in 2018 to meet and to learn about our collective work in science/STEM education.  We will be hosting the annual Spring NCSLA Summit April 28, 2018 in Raleigh.  Details will be forthcoming but please put the date on your calendar now.  The Fall NCLSA Summit will be on November 28, 2018 in Charlotte, followed by the Charlotte NSTA Regional Conference scheduled for November 29 through December 1, 2018.  Again, please plan to attend and present.  Proposals are due to NSTA by January 15, 2018 so don’t be late.  We’d like as many NCSLA members to present or co-present as possible so follow this link and submit your presentation proposals

I am looking forward to seeing you at the Spring NCSLA Summit and hopefully, before then.
