The North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP) has compiled a Roadmap of Need, which “uses data on health, youth behavior and safety, education, and economic development to take a whole child needs assessment of what young people living in each of North Carolina’s 100 counties must have in order to thrive in school and in life.” The power in this report for science leaders is that it contains all of the demographic information for a given county one might require when writing a statement of need for grant proposals. The Roadmap is updated annually and can be downloaded as a PDF.
NC CAP is a network of afterschool providers, state agencies, state and local policymakers, law enforcement, universities and colleges, businesses, and philanthropists, working to increase access to high quality afterschool and out-of-school programming for students across the state. The website includes a database of afterschool providers, which can be searched by location, type of afterschool program, grade range, or activity.
