Dr. Leah Bug, Pre-Service/University Committee Chair
Dr. Leah Bug brings to the board an extensive background in K-20 STEM education. Leah taught elementary and middle school for thirteen years and was a National Board Certified Teacher. While she loved teaching, NASA Education pulled her away from the classroom to provide science and engineering programming to teachers, students, and the general public across the country. Her education career journey included working in higher education at Penn State, collaborating with science and engineering researchers in designing and implementing teacher professional development programming and leading the Center for Science and the Schools as the Assistant Director. Leah is currently The Engineering Place Assistant Director at NC State University and the College of Education Adjunct Assistant Professor, teaching graduate-level elementary science methods courses. Leah is excited to implement engineering and STEM education programs throughout the state.
