Board of Directors

Pepper Capps Hill is the President of the NCSLA Board of Directors. She is the founder and executive director of Science Alliance NC, based in southeastern NC. Pepper has a background in museum education, including science and history, and has been recognized as a distinguished educator by Smart Start, YCMA Women of Achievement, NC Science Olympiad, and the NC Science Teachers Association.

Dr. Christi Whitworth, a longtime informal STEM educator and statewide science‑education leader based in Asheville is our Executive Director. In her work, she blends hands‑on teaching experience with research in citizen science, AI, and game‑based learning to strengthen STEM learning for all students.
